In the wake of accusation, SCOTUS signs pledge.

The Supreme Court of the United States has been under scrutiny following allegations in the media regarding undisclosed gifts and trips. In response to the Fourth Estate and congressional hullaballoo, the nine justices today, November 13, signed a Code of Conduct to which they pledged to adhere.

In a statement explaining the document, the justices write, “The absence of a Code … has led in recent years to the misunderstanding that the Justices of this Court, unlike all other jurists in this country, regard themselves as unrestricted by any ethics rules.” The statement continues, “To dispel this misunderstanding, we are issuing this Code, which largely represents a codification of principles that we have long regarded as governing our conduct.”

There is little new in the Code, but rather, it codifies generally accepted practices of the court.

Liberty Nation believes you should have all the facts without the spin. As such, we republish the Supreme Court Code of Conduct here in full.
